Am I Ready To Lose Weight?

Spend a few minutes and ask yourself the following questions.

Do I go months or years without thinking about my weight or weight loss?
If your answer is yes there is a very good possibility that you are not ready to lose weight or may not need to lose weight.

Do I think about my weight occasionally and wonder what I might look like if I were a few pounds lighter?
If your answer is yes you may be overweight or obese and just haven’t thought about how much harm is being done to your body. If you are unsure, see the chart below and then discuss this with your doctor.

Do I think about my weight occasionally and say to myself, “one of these days I should think about losing a few pounds?”
If this is the case you are very likely overweight or maybe even obese. You don’t want to wait until your doctor informs you that you have diabetes or heart disease before you decide it’s time to do something about your weight. Again, check the chart below and if you fall above the normal zone make a visit to your doctor to discuss your weight as well as your overall physical condition.

Do I think about my weight at least once a week?
If your answer is yes, chances are very good that you are overweight or obese. You may wish you could lose weight but you’re just not quite sure how to get started or whether it is worth the effort. You are most likely headed toward one of the many diseases that have been linked to being overweight or obese.

Do I think about my weight on a daily basis or every time I look in the mirror?
If your answer is yes, you should be ready to lose weight. If you’re not or if you continue to put it off, there is a possibility that you may fall victim to diabetes, heart disease, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure or one of the many other diseases that have been linked directly to being overweight or obese.

Finally, do you think you can’t do it? Have you tried before and failed or gained back the weight you lost?
If your answer to either of these questions is yes, don’t give up. Being overweight or obese can be dangerous to your health and you should never give up.
